COMPANY OVERVIEW |
In 1984, Dave Wilson packed a truck full of seedlings and headed into
the bush. He and the others on that first crew were the start of what
is now Celtic Reforestation – a top quality reforestation company
respected throughout British Columbia.
Celtic Reforestation has planted more than 180 million seedlings, and
as the field of technical forestry has developed, so has Celtic. We now
provide a wide variety of services, above and beyond planting itself. We have received our BC Forest Safe "SAFE Company" Certification, one of first in the BC Silviculture Industry.

PLANTING |
Celtic Reforestation is committed to high quality planting at competitive
rates, while ensuring a safe and healthy environment for our employees.
We have forged a reputation for ourselves as a company willing to tackle
even the most difficult sites, and as a leader in micro-site planting. It all begins with our people. The majority of our tree planters are
multi-season professionals, and few silviculture companies can match
the experience and longevity of Celtic staff. Each one of us is committed
to providing excellent service to our clients, and to doing all we can
to help seedlings grow as quickly as possible. We believe it is our responsibility
to get our clients’ plantations “free-growing” in the
shortest possible time.
Celtic Reforestation specializes in micro-site planting. Our Micro-site
Selection Training Program teaches planters the importance of choosing
the best site for each seedling, which has led to dramatically improved
survival and performance. Both planters and foresters examine completed
plantations before the seedlings go into their first winter, gaining
invaluable knowledge into the efficacy of planting techniques and stock
choices, as well as how external factors impact the plantation. Celtic is also very experienced with difficult access contracts, including
those requiring helicopter and barge approaches, and our Coastal crews
are adept with sinocast cone and vexar tube installation. |

STAND TENDING |
Celtic Reforestation's dedication to improving seedling survival is exemplified in our Stand Tending operations. We have experienced crews working on brush saw sites, with thousands of hectares spaced, brushed and pruned, and all blocks are GPS traversed and computer mapped for accuracy.

SILVICULTURE SURVEYS |
Celtic Reforestation has 5 certified surveyors on staff, with decades
of experience and more than forty thousand hectares surveyed. They
understand how important the information acquired through systematic
sampling of a plantation can be regarding the quantity and quality
of the crop trees on site. Celtic also provides full CAD mapping capabilities,
and GPS traversing, with current GPS models available. |

BEETLE PROBES AND ROAD LAYOUT |
|
Currently, British Columbia is experiencing a tremendous infestation
of Mountain Pine Beetles. Celtic has worked on beetle probing projects
for a number of years, co-operating with logging operations in the afflicted
areas. We have a Registered Professional Forester on staff, and twenty-five
2-person crews, who are highly productive and motivated to providing
the best possible service to our clients. We have certified spruce beetle
probers, and all crews are safety trained and EMS compliant.
Road Layout Crews provide top quality, dependable services. All crews
have experience with GPS technology, and have computer generated mapping
capabilities. |
